ماینرهای اتریوم از هارد فورک لندن درامدشان کمتر شده است

طی ماه های گذشته، پس از ارتقا لندن در شبکه اتریوم، مشکلات دائمی با تراکنش ها وجود داشته است. کارمزد تراکنش ها خیلی زیاد است و تراکنش ها اغلب با تاخیر انجام می شوند.

90 دلاری، می بایست7.5 دلار بپردازد که تقریبا 10 درصد از سود وی می باشد. نه تنها خیلی زیاد است، بلکه بسیاری از ماینرها می خواهند هر هفته یا حتی زودتر تقاضای برداشت بکنند.

شبکه اتریوم مدت ها است که با کارمزد بالای تراکنش بین آدرس ها مشکل دارد. قبلا به استخرهای ماینینگ مربوط نمی شد: آنها می توانستند خودشان تصمیم بگیرند که کدام تراکنش ها و کارمزدها را در بلوک های خود لحاظ کنند و کدام را حذف کنند. اکنون استخرهای ماینینگ مزیتی نسبت به دیگری ندارند. آنها مجبورند که پرداختی را به قیمت بازار به ماینرها بفرستند.

در زمان نگارش این مقاله، کارمزد تراکنش اتریوم 10 دلار برای هر تراکنش است.

در نتیجه، این امر به ماینر ها آسیب می رساند. این استخر فقط زمانی پرداختی ها را ارسال می کند که کارمزد تراکنش به سطح قابل قبولی برسد: یعنی زیر 7.6 دلار در هر تراکنش. مابقی زمان را ماینرها باید منتظر پرداخت های خود باشند به این امید که قیمت گس اتریوم کاهش بیابد.

بیایید به نمودار قیمت گس در هفته اول اکتبر نگاهی بیندازیم. در نظر داشته باشید که استخر محدودیت یکصد Gwei را تنظیم می کند. نمودار را تقریبا می توان به دو بخش تقسیم کرد: 3 روز به سمت چپ (2 تا 4 اکتبر) در زمانی که استخر طبق معمول پرداخت را انجام می دهد، و 4 روز به سمت راست (5 تا 8 اکتبر) در زمانی که پرداخت استخر با تاخیر انجام می شود.

کاربران همیشه از این موضوع گله و شکایت دارند، اما چه کنیم؟ ما فقط می توانیم محدودیت گس را حتی بیشتر افزایش دهیم. آن وقت یک تراکنش چقدر هزینه خواهد داشت؟ 20 دلار؟ 30 دلار؟ که مسلما غیر قابل قبول است. اکثر ماینرها از چنین تصمیمی استقبال نمی کنند و باید به دنبال منابع درامد دیگری باشند. آنها نمی توانند فقط استخر را برای استخراج تغییر دهند، زیرا همه استخرها همین مشکل را دارند.

استخر 2Miners مشکلات پرداختی را حل می کند

کارمزدها

هنگامی که ماینرها از درگاه پرداخت ما پرداختی ها را دریافت می کنند، تنها بخشی از کارمزد تراکنش را در شبکه بیتکوین پرداخت می کنند. ما تمام پرداختی های ماینر را در یک تراکنش گروه بندی می کنیم. بدین سبب هزینه های تراکنش به قسمت های مساوی بین ماینرها تقسیم می شود. به همین دلیل است که هزینه فعلی برای هر ماینر کمتر از 0.2 دلار است.

تنظیمات mmpOS

1. یک- کیف پول مختص استخر را بسازید. اتریوم را به عنوان ارز پایه انتخاب کنید و آدرس کیف پول بیتکوین یا نانو خود را اضافه کنید.

   

2. دو- استخر را بسازید و کیف پولی که قبلا اضافه کرده اید را انتخاب کنید. آدرس ” eth.2miners.com” را به عنوان hostname و “2020” را به عنوان port وارد کنید. نیازی به هیچ اقدام دیگری نیست و بر روی دکمه “Create pool” کلیک کنید.

   

3. سه- پروفایل ماینر را با استخر اضافه شده در بالا بسازید. هر اسمی دلتان میخواهد روی پروفایل ماینر بگذارید و نرم افزار ماینر دلخواه خود را انتخاب بکنید.
4. چهار- ریگ مدنظر را انتخاب کنید، روی دکمه ” Switch miner profile” کلیک کنید، و پروفایل جدیدی که ساخته اید را بررسی کنید. مطمئن شوید که دیگر پروفایل هایی که ریگ به آنها اختصاص یافته بود را انتخاب نکرده اید. در چند دقیقه، تنظیمات شما بکار گرفته خواهد شد و ماینینگ شروع خواهد شد.

نتیجه گیری: مبادله خودکار رمزارز در ماینینگ

اگر اتریوم را در استخر

2Miners استخراج می کنید، می توانید یکی از سه رمزارز اتریوم، بیتکوین، یا نانو را برای پرداخت انتخاب کنید. حداقل پرداخت در اتریوم و بیتکوین 0.005 اتر (حدود 18دلار) و در نانو 0.0005 اتر (حدود 1.8 دلار) می باشد.

پرداختی ها در اتریوم در عرض دو ساعت پس از رسیدن به آستانه پرداخت صادر می شوند. پرداختی ها در بیتکوین و نانو یک بار در روز در ساعت 15:30 به افق تهران صادر می شوند.

برای استفاده از تبادل خودکار نیازی به تنظیمات خاصی نیست. فقط آدرس کیف پول رمزارزی را که می خواهید در آن دستمزد دریافت کنید (چه بیتکوین، چه اتریوم، چه نانو) را به تنظیمات ماینر خود اضافه کنید.

Ethereum 2.0 is a set of upgrades to the current Ethereum blockchain. First of all, it introduces Proof-of-Stake consensus: validators that stake ETH will replace GPU miners in creating blocks and ensuring the network security.

Eth2 also introduces sharding that will increase the cryptocurrency blockchain bandwidth 64 times. It means that it will be able to handle at least 64x more transactions per second and even more going forward.

The initial phase of transition to Eth2 known as Phase 0 started on December 1, 2020. That was when Ethereum launched its new network called Beacon Chain that activated the Proof-of-Stake mechanism.

Although PoS is more eco-friendly as it doesn’t require a lot of power, miners are not particularly happy about the new consensus algorithm. It will be much less profitable and it doesn’t need GPUs. After the merge of the current network Ethereum 1.0 with Beacon Chain miners will have to use their GPUs to mine other coins. How much less profitable is staking compared to mining?

To answer this question, we found out their profitability and compared them. We also talk about positive and negative aspects of Proof-of-Work and Proof-of-Stake.

Ethereum’s Staking Profitability

It’s quite easy to find out staking profitability in Ethereum 2.0: the Launchpad webpage displays up-to-date stats. It also contains guidelines for validators willing to help to secure the blockchain and earn rewards.

At the current amount of coins at stake, the annual percentage rate is 5.2%. So if you invest $100 thousand, in a year you will get $105.2 thousand, provided that the cryptocurrency rate remains stable.

There are two ways to stake Ether in the new network: directly or through special services. In the first case, you should have at least 32 ETH and be capable to launch a node. A network node is a piece of software that monitors what happens in the cryptocurrency network, votes for new blocks and gets rewards.

If you don’t have 32 ETH (after all, it’s more than $151 thousand), you can use services offered by special platforms. They gather coins from users and stake them. Then they distribute rewards according to provided shares and charge fees.

For example, Binance is one of the platforms that offer such services. The platform pays out rewards in the form of BETH tokens to Spot wallets.

Advantages of Ethereum’s PoS

Ethereum’s shift to Proof-of-Stake has its advantages. Thanks to PoS, the network can be protected without huge amounts of electricity needed to power GPU mining rigs. As a result, the environment will benefit from it.

For example, the energy consumption of Bitcoin miners is extremely high: it’s comparable to the energy consumption of a small country. With that being said, major industries like construction consume more energy and pollute the environment even more.

Those who live in countries with high electricity rates will appreciate it. Especially in Europe, where electricity rates have recently gone up. Overall, the cryptocurrency industry will benefit from it: just in spring Bitcoin was criticized because of excessive amounts of energy wasted on mining.

Another advantage is node maintenance. It’s much easier to maintain a node than a rig. Plus, if one of the rig parts breaks, it will take you a lot of time to detect the problem. But if you have a node, you just need to upgrade it to the latest version.

Disadvantages of ETH Proof-of-Stake

As we already mentioned above, you need 32 ETH for staking without intermediaries. At the current exchange rate, it’s quite a lot and not everyone can afford it.

But there is a solution. You can use third-party platforms that ask you to stake much less.

Ethereum staking has a big disadvantage: as of now, it’s impossible to redeem the initial deposit. The current Eth1 network is separate from Eth2, and the latter doesn’t offer withdrawal options. They will be added after the merge of the two networks, but it’s still unclear when. So best case scenario, you can expect to redeem your deposit in 6–12 months.

And last but not least, ETH staking in the PoS network brings low profits. 5% is not convincing at all in the crypto world.

For example, Binance offers much higher interest rates on locked savings. And they also last for several weeks which would surely make investors happy.

What Can Cause Staking Profitability to Drop

Another important downside of staking is penalties. The first penalty was issued on December 3, 2020. Ironically, the validator didn’t mean to damage the network: he broke the rules out of ignorance.

We agree that network safety is crucial, but beginning validators may lose money just out of ignorance. And if you don’t upgrade your node in time, you might have even more serious problems.

It’s important to note that staking profitability is bound to drop until it becomes possible to withdraw funds from the PoS network. So the only hope is that ETH rate in dollars will grow which is only possible if ETH increases in value.

Ethereum’s PoW Mining Profitability

2CryptoCalc helps to calculate PoW mining profitability and payback. 2CryptoCalc calculates profitability of one GPU of various models and for various periods of time. It can also share links to download mining programs along with their settings.

For example, here is a page with different GPUs and their payback. You can even enter the price at which a device is sold in your area to get even more precise results.

Let’s take Nvidia RTX 3070 as an example. The initial price was $580, but you can’t find it at such a price nowadays. Today you can find this model on Amazon at about $1,470.

Ethereum is the most profitable coin for RTX 3070, like for many other graphics cards.

After we enter the price, you can see that the payback period is no less than 10 months.

The graphics card can bring about $88.46 in one month and $1,061 in a year. This is about 72% of the initial investment which is almost 14x more profitable than PoS.

It’s important to note that you can get even better results. You should just spend more time on finding a used graphics card. It is cheaper than the new one, which means that the payback period will be shorter and profitability will be higher.

Say, you decided to mine on a larger scale and purchase eight graphics cards to build a rig. According to our article about building an Ethereum mining rig, it costs around $600. Let’s allow for an increase in prices and assume that today it costs $700 to build a rig.

You will need $11,760 to buy eight RTX 3070 cards. Considering the cost of a rig, we need about $12,500.

Now let’s calculate profitability. Each GPU gives out a hash rate of 41 Mh/s consuming 125 W. It’s 328 Mh/s in total which will bring about $26 a day.

Let’s not forget about expenses on electricity. A rig consumes about 1200 W. If an electricity rate is $0.07 per kWh, we get about $2.00 per day. So the net profit is $24.

The payback period is about 520 days ($12,500 [expenses] / $24 [daily profitability]), which is approximately one year and five months. Profitability in this case is 67%, as the yearly profit is about $8,484.

We used an average electricity cost. It can be lower or higher. The less you spend, the shorter your payback period and the higher your profitability.

It’s important to note that even though a rig doesn’t pay off in a year, GPU mining profitability is still much higher than that of staking. In the example above we got 73% of the initial investment in one year earning almost $8,500. You can also sell your devices anytime thus getting a surplus.

If Ethereum’s exchange rate increases, you will get your initial investment back even sooner.

Advantages of Ethereum’s PoW Mining

Ethereum’s PoW Mining on GPUs has a huge advantage over staking in terms of profitability. Some GPUs, especially used ones, can be paid off in a few months, after which you will start getting a surplus.

Plus, graphics cards are universal: you can use them to mine different cryptocurrencies. It is especially useful in the case of new projects with low mining difficulty and moderate exchange rates.

Considering the lack of devices today, graphics cards are also easy to sell. You can even make money from selling.

Disadvantages of PoW Cryptocurrency Mining

As we already mentioned above, it’s problematic to buy graphics cards nowadays. They are hard to get, and even if you find one, it will be hugely overpriced. But it doesn’t seem to stop miners: the payback period is still quite acceptable. Because of a rising demand manufacturers overprice devices even more.

One of the disadvantages of Ethereum mining on GPUs is the maintenance of devices. Even if devices operate well, you still need to fine-tune overclocking parameters, rates, etc., when mining software gets an upgrade. This takes a lot of time.

One of the most obvious downsides of PoW mining is the need for a physical location for devices. You need to keep them somewhere, ideally in the guarded area. And don’t forget about cooling and maintenance. You should also know how to set up your devices and how they operate.

Comparing PoS and PoW in Ethereum. Conclusion

PoW mining has an obvious advantage over staking in terms of profitability. Graphics cards can be paid off in about a year, which is an excellent result for any business. Considering the current market situation, it is likely to remain this way.

As a result, mining with one or several GPUs brings about 70% of return on investment as opposed to 5% of annual percentage rate for staking. It is clear that graphics cards are highly valued nowadays, so it makes a lot of sense to start mining Ethereum or other coins. We recommend mining in the 2Miners pool.

پینگ در استخرها یعنی چه؟

انتخاب استخرها بر مبنای لتنسی اشتباه است

مثلا یک ماینر به یک استخر متصل می شود و شروع به ارسال سهم می کند. او می بیند که سهم ها در ظرف 50 میلی ثانیه پذیرفته می شود (پینگ 50 میلی ثانیه است). سپس ماینر به استخر دیگری متصل می شود و می بیند که سهم ها در ظرف 150 میلی ثانیه پذیرفته می شوند. او فکر می کند که اولی بهتر است و آنجا را انتخاب می کند.

مساله این است که کاملا اشتباه است.

وقتی استخر ماینینگ را انتخاب می کنید، به جای پینگ، باید به سهام های بیات نگاه کنید. این بدان معنا نیست که شما چیزهای دیگری مانند پاداش MEV و توزیع آن، کارمزدهای استخر، قابلیت استفاده و غیره را نیز نباید در نظر بگیرید.

سهم ها می توانند به سه شکل باشند:

هر دوی آنها پاداش یکسانی می گیرند. اولی به دلیل پینگ کمتر، سهم کاری بیشتری دریافت نمی کند و دومی به دلیل پینگ بالاتر سهم کاری کمتری نمی گیرد.

تفاوت بین اتریوم و دیگر رمزارزها. بلوک های عمو

بلوک عمو یک تفاوت مهم بین اتریوم و همچنین سایر سکه های الگوریتم Ethash با سایر رمزارزها است. زمان یافتن بلاک در اتریوم بسیار کوتاه است: به طور متوسط 13 ثانیه. اکثر رمزارزها زمان طولانی تری در یافتن بلاک دارند. در بیتکوین، هر 10 دقیقه یک بلوک جدید پیدا می شود. هنگامی که شخصی یک بلوک جدید را پیدا کرد، باید در اسرع وقت اطلاعات مربوط به آن را به سایر گره های شبکه (ماینرها) منتقل کند.

داشتن تعداد بیش از حد بلوک عمو بد است. افسانه یا واقعیت؟

ناگفته نماند که هر استخر باید تلاش کند تا ارتباط خوبی با سایر گره های شبکه حفظ کند تا اطلاعات مربوط به بلوک های جدید را در سریع ترین زمان ممکن به دست آورد و اطلاعات مربوط به بلوک های موجود در استخر را به همان سرعت ارسال کند.

استخر

2Miners تمام تلاش خود را برای اطمینان از اتصال استخر به تعداد هر چه بیشتر گره های ممکن در سراسر جهان انجام می دهد. به علاوه، ما با دیگر استخرهای ماینینگ همکاری می کنیم و گره های شبکه خود را مستقیماً به هم متصل می کنیم. در نتیجه ما بدون تاخیر اطلاعات مربوط به بلوک های جدید را ارسال و دریافت می کنیم.

بلوک های عمو: بله یا نه؟

قطعا بله! هرچه بیشتر بهتر. خودتان ببینید: یک استخر 100 بلوک و 5 بلوک عمو را پیدا می کند، دیگری 100 بلوک و 10 بلوک عمو را پیدا می کند. تفاوت در پاداش بیش از 3٪ است.

پس بلوک های عمو در نهایت خوب هستند یا بد؟جواب کاملی برای پاسخ دادن به این سوال وجود ندارد.

اگر یک بلوک عمو نتیجه ی اتصال ضعیف گره استخر به سایر گره های شبکه باشد، بد است. اگر یک بلوک عمو یک پاداش اضافی پیش بینی نشده باشد، خوب است.

پاداش: آیا بلوک های خالی 2 اتریومی بدون تراکنش، بد هستند؟

در این مقاله، ما مشخص کردیم که اگر یک استخر تعداد زیادی بلوک عمو داشته باشد، لزوما بد نیست. حتی ممکن است برعکس باشد.

حالا بیایید در مورد یک افسانه دیگر صحبت بکنیم: “استخرهایی که بلوک 2 اتریومی استخراج می کنند بد هستند”.

موضوع اینجاست. بلوک های 2 اتریومی، بلوک هایی خالی هست که حاوی هیچ تراکنشی نیستند.

به طور کلی، بلوک های 2 اتریومی درست پس از پیدا شدن بلوک قبلی ظاهر می شوند. به عنوان مثال، می توانید به بلوک 2 اتریومی شماره 11 789 558 نگاه کنید که تنها پس از یک ثانیه بلوک 11 789 557 را دنبال کرد.

مجددا تاکید میکنیم که با توجه به اینکه استخرهای برتر می توانند سرورهای مناسبی را بخرند و راه اندازی کنند، بلوک

آیا راهی برای استخر جهت حل مشکل گره وجود دارد؟ بله وجود دارد. یک استخر می تواند نوعی وقفه (timeout) یا تأخیر (delay) تعیین کند. مثلاً یک استخر می‌تواند اطلاعات مربوط به یک بلوک جدید را از ماینرها در 500 میلی‌ثانیه اول پس از دریافت پنهان بکند و همچنان مساله های قدیمی را جهت حل کردن و ایجاد راه حل برای آنها ارسال کند. در نتیجه، به جای یک بلوک خالی 2 اتریومی، استخر ممکن است یک بلوک عمو به ارزش 1.75 اتریوم پیدا بکند. اما هر چه باشد بلوک 2 اتریومی قطعا بهتر از 1.75 اتریومی است وچنین اصلاحی اصلا منطقی نخواهد بود.

الگوریتم های سرد بیشتر از حافظه کارت گرافیک استفاده می کنند و به همین دلیل است که کلاک حافظه (Memory Clock) را افزایش می دهیم و کلاک هسته (Core Clock) را کاهش می دهیم یا آن را همانطور که هست رها می کنیم. از ویژگی های اصلی چنین الگوریتم هایی
می توان به مصرف کم انرژی، دمای پایین هسته و دمای بالای حافظه اشاره کرد.

الگوریتم های سرد شامل: Ethash (Ethereum), Etchash (Ethereum Classic), Autolykos2 (Ergo).

هسته را افزایش دهید. همه الگوریتم های Cuckoo خنثی هستند. این الگوریتم ها
شامل: CuckooCortex (Cortex), CuckooCycle (Aeternity), Cuckatoo32 (Grin).

الگوریتم های گرم

الگوریتم های گرم هم از هسته و هم از حافظه استفاده میکنند و به همین دلیل است که ما کلاک هسته (CC) و کلاک حافظه (MC) را افزایش میدهیم. ویژگی اصلی این چنین الگوریتم هایی مصرف بالای انرژی، دمای بالای هسته، و دمای بالای
حافظه هستند.

الگوریتم های گرم عبارتند از: KAWPOW (Ravencoin), FiroPow (FIRO), BeamHashV3 (BEAM), Equihash 144.5 (Bitcoin Gold).

مقایسه الگوریتم های ماینینگ

ما الگوریتمهای ماینینگ را در جدول زیر مقایسه کرده ایم. در این مقایسه برای

توجه داشته باشید که مصرف برق بسته به الگوریتم تغییر میکند. این موضوع ممکن است در زمان انتخاب ارز برای استخراج مهم باشد. به عنوان مثال، ماشین حساب نشان می دهد که )Ethereum Classis (ETC و )Ravencoin (RVN از نظر سودآوری استخراج برای کارت گرافیک شما یکسان هستند. پس بهتر است که ETC

استخراج Ravencoin

مقایسه با اکثر رقبا وضعیت خوبی است.

پایداری بالای ریگ، حضور در اکثر صرافی ها و یک نرخ مبادلاتی نسبت ًا ثابت این ارزرا در میان ماینرها محبوب کرده است.

به دلیل «سادگی» الگوریتم، برترین کارتهای گرافیکی نسل جدید (با 8 گیگابایت رم به بالا) نمیتوانند با ظرفیت کامل کار بکنند و از تمام مزایایی که دارند، بهویژه حافظه پرسرعت، استفاده بکنند. بنابراین معمو ًلا در چنین کارت گرافیک هایی، الگوریتمهای سرد مانند CuckooCycly ،Autolykos2 ،Etchash ،CuckooCortex، و Cuckatoo32 که برای استفاده از حافظه طراحی شدهاند سودآورتر هستند.

شاخص های استخراج Ravencoin::

• الگوریتم استخراج: KAWPOW (گرم 🔥)
• حداقل حافظه کارت گرافیک: 4 گیگابایت
• پاداش بلوک: 5000 RVN
• میانگی ِن زما ِن یافت ِن بلوک: 1 دقیقه
• موجود در صرافی های: بایننس، هیوبی، گیت، بیترکس و غیره.
• موجود در صرافی های: بایننس، هیوبی، گیت، بیترکس و غیره.: رز: .

تقریب ًا بیش از 60 هزار ماینر در حال استخراج RVN هستند.

استخراج )Ethereum Classic (ETC

اتریوم کلاسیک همان شبکه اصلی اتریوم است که با ارتقاء جنجالی اتریوم در سال 2016 مخالفت کرد و یک هاردفورک برای جدا شدن از زنجیره اصلی اتریوم را اجرا کرد.

استخراج Firo

چندی پیش FIRO از یک الگوریتم بسیار سنگین به نام MTP استفاده می کرد که به 5 گیگابایت رم نیاز داشت. همچنین ترافیک اینترنتی قابل توجهی برای استخر و ماینر ایجاد کرد: حجم هر سهم به 200 کیلوبایت رسید که صدها برابر بیشتر از حجم

در 26 اکتبر (4 آبان) FIRO یک ارتقاء گسترده در سیستم انجام داد و الگوریتم خود را از MTP به FiroPoW تغییر داد. FiroPoW یک الگوریتم اصلاح شده ProgPoW که برای اتریوم توسعه یافت اما هرگز پیاده سازی نشد. این الگوریتم شبیه به الگوریتم

Why Does Everyone Mine Ethereum?

GPU Mining Algorithms

Let’s divide the most popular mining algorithms into two groups: cold ❄️ and hot 🔥. Read more about it in the article titled “Beginning Miner’s Guide and GPU Overclocking on Different Algorithms”.

Cold Algorithms

Cold algorithms mostly use GPU memory, and that is why we increase memory clock (MC) and decrease core clock (CC) or leave it as is. The main characteristics of such algorithms are low power consumption, low core temperature, and high memory temperature.

Cold algorithms are: Ethash (Ethereum), Etchash (Ethereum Classic), Autolykos2 (Ergo).

Some also distinguish neutral algorithms that require you to increase only core clock. All Cuckoo algorithms are neutral: CuckooCortex (Cortex), CuckooCycle (Aeternity), Cuckatoo32 (Grin).

Hot Algorithms

Hot algorithms use both core and memory, and that is why we increase core clock (CC) and memory clock (MC). The main characteristics of such algorithms are high power consumption, high core temperature, and high memory temperature.

Hot mining algorithms are: KAWPOW (Ravencoin), FiroPow (FIRO), BeamHashV3 (BEAM), Equihash 144.5 (Bitcoin Gold).

Comparing Mining Algorithms

We compared mining algorithms in the table below. We chose Nvidia 3080Ti overclocking settings as an example. The table shows GPU hash rate, core temp, memory temp, and power consumption. Note that depending on the algorithm power consumption changes as well. This might be important to consider when choosing which coin to mine. Say, the calculator shows that Ethereum Classic (ETC) and Ravencoin (RVN) are the same in terms of mining profitability for your video card. Then you should choose ETC. You will save 25% on power compared to RVN.

The algorithms in the table above are the main competitors of Ether’s algorithm (Ethash). Hot algorithms are highlighted in orange, cold algorithms – in blue. Let’s take a closer look at the main coins of these algorithms, their mining profitability, and other features.

Ravencoin Mining

In 2021 Ravencoin (RVN) became the second most popular coin among GPU miners due to the increase in its exchange rate, its simplicity, and low hardware requirements. Not so long ago you could mine RVN on 3GB GPUs, now you need 4GB which is also good compared to most competitors.

High rig stability, presence on most exchanges, and a relatively stable exchange rate made this currency popular among miners.

Due to the “simplicity” of the algorithm, the top latest-generation graphics cards (with 8GB+ of RAM) can’t operate at full capacity and use all advantages they have, especially high-speed memory. So the following cold algorithms that are designed to use memory are usually more profitable on such GPUs: CuckooCortex, Etchash, Autolykos2, CuckooCycly, Cuckatoo32.

Ethereum Classic (ETC) Mining

Ethereum Classic (ETC) is the original Ethereum network that went against Ethereum’s controversial 2016 upgrade and performed a hard fork separating from the main ETH chain.

After a series of severe 51% attacks on the ETC network, the developers realized that it’s unsafe to remain in the background and use the same mining algorithm as Ethereum and slightly changed it. They also halved the DAG file size located in GPU memory thus making it possible to mine even on GPUs with 3GB. Clearly, ETC’s DAG file keeps growing, and in 2022 3GB graphics cards won’t be able to mine the cryptocurrency even on Linux systems.

Today this cryptocurrency is ideal for most old GPUs with 4GB of RAM. Plus, many cryptocurrency exchanges list the coin, so you can easily exchange it into other cryptocurrencies or fiat money with minimum expenses.

Firo Mining

Not so long ago FIRO was using an extremely heavy algorithm called MTP that required 5GB of RAM. It also generated significant Internet traffic for the pool and miner: each share reached 200KB which is hundreds of times more than a share of any other algorithm.

On October 26, Firo performed a system-wide upgrade changing its algorithm from MTP to FiroPoW. FiroPoW is a modified ProgPoW algorithm developed for Ethereum but never implemented. It is similar to Ravencoin’s KAWPOW algorithm.

FIRO’s FiroPoW is basically identical to Ravencoin’s algorithm. The only difference is FIRO’s larger DAG size: currently FiroPoW requires a little over 4GB of RAM. Every 1.5 years DAG size will increase by 1GB which will make it impossible to mine on GPUs with 6GB of RAM by the end of 2024.

Cortex Mining

Cortex (CTXC) uses the CuckooCortex mining algorithm. Mining on this algorithm is highly dependent on GPU memory. It boosts the speed on Nvidia’s top GPUs in each series: on the 1080ti, 2080, 3090, to name a few.

Cortex’s exchange rate and mining difficulty may fluctuate significantly even within one day, that’s why miners that constantly monitor mining difficulty love this coin. If you can switch your mining powers to this coin for several hours once its mining difficulty drops or exchange rate increases, Cortex is for you.

What makes CuckooCortex unique is that the algorithm offers a variety of ways to adjust mining energy efficiency. Say, you can obtain 80% of hash rate on your GPUs and save 40% of power at the same time, or you can overclock GPUs to get additional 20% of hash rate but increase power consumption by 1.5x (which makes sense if your electricity rates are low).

CTXC mining algorithm is demanding in terms of GPU memory. If you mine on Windows 7 or Linux, you need GPUs with at least 8GB of RAM. Note that on Windows 10 you need at least 10GB of RAM.

FiroPoW – The New FIRO Mining Algorithm

For hard fork was successfully performed on October 26.

The new mining algorithm for FIRO is called FiroPoW. It is based on the ProgPoW algo that was originally built for the Ethereum network but it seems it would never be implemented there.

Here is how to set the mining software.
For Nvidia choose T-Rex miner. The bat-file example is below.

矿池中的份额（Share）是什么?

份额是用来计算矿工在挖矿过程中工作量的单位。

矿工和矿池之间的关系非常简单直接。矿池给矿工们发送一个计算任务，矿工再给矿池返回解决办法（这个就是Share）。

矿池中的“Ping”到底是个啥？

矿池中的Ping是指矿工们发送份额到矿池并得到反馈，这一整个程序所需要用的时间。

矿池会验证一下这个份额，选择是接受它还是拒绝它。因为这个份额可能是正确的，也可能是错误的，显然矿池不能盲目地去信任矿工们的工作。

在Windows或者Linux操作系统中，Ping指令被用来测试一个服务器响应速度的快慢。而在挖矿过程中，所谓的Ping是用来衡量一整个进程：这个矿池能有多快地去接收到你的份额，多快地验证一下这个份额是正确的还是错误的，然后多快地把结果反馈给你。这就是为什么挖矿程序把它称之为“份额接受时间”（Share accepted time），而不是我们认为的那个Ping。

按照延迟（Latency）去选择矿池是错误的

还是之前那个比方，一个矿工连接到了A矿池并开始发送份额。然后他看到份额在50ms的时间里（矿池程序中显示的是50ms）被处理了。然后他又去了B矿池，看到需要150ms。他就简单地觉得A矿池比B矿池好，然后决定使用B矿池。

问题是，这是完全错误的。

当您选择一个挖矿池时，您首先应该查看延迟份额（Stale Shares），而不是ping。这并不意味着你不应该考虑其他事情，比如：MEV奖励和分配情况、矿池费用、易用性等。

很多矿池曲解了延迟份额的概念。如果份额在矿池发送一个新的任务之后才出现，则这个份额会被丢弃掉。2Miners选择另外一个途径。谨慎处理所有的份额，并尽量去充分利用它们。份额来晚了？没问题，也许我们可以弄出来一个叔块奖励！

当您开始在矿池中挖矿时，请注意研究一下您的份额统计信息。如果你没有延迟份额，那么这个矿池对你来说是很好的，你的延迟就无所谓了。

同样，当你选择一个矿池时，还有其他事情要考虑，比如矿池是如何转账的，转账费用是多少，MEV奖励等等。在这里，我们只讨论网络连接速度。

让我们以两名相同的矿工为例子，每个挖矿者的算力都是500 MH/s。第一个矿工的ping是50ms，第二个是500ms。

叔块（Uncle Blocks）：香还是不香?

当然香！越多越好。你看：一个矿池找到100个区块和5个叔块，另一个矿池找到100个区块和10个叔块。奖励的差别超过3%。

那么叔块是好事儿还是坏事儿？
这个问题没有明确的答案。

如果叔块是矿池节点与其他网络节点连接不良的结果，那么不是好事儿。如果一个叔块是一个意外的额外奖励，那么它就是好事儿。

额外知识：没有被交易成功的2个ETH区块（Empty 2 ETH Blocks）是不是坏事？

在本文中，我们确定了一个说法：如果一个矿池有大量的叔块，那么它不一定是坏事儿。甚至可能恰恰相反。

现在，让我们谈谈另一个谜：“挖了2个ETH区块的矿池是垃圾矿池”。

The ping or network speed is often the first thing miners look at when comparing mining pools. They see in their mining program how fast shares are sent to a pool and accepted. Say, for one pool it takes 50 ms (milliseconds), while for another – 150 ms. As a result, miners assume that the former is better than the latter. Are they right or wrong?

What Is a Share in a Pool?

A share is a unit used to measure the work of a miner in a pool.

The interaction between a miner and a pool is quite straightforward. The pool sends a task to the miner. The miner sends solutions (that is, shares) to the pool.

What is Ping in Pools?

Ping in a mining pool is the time it takes for a share sent by a miner to reach the pool and get processed.

To process a share means either to accept or to reject it. Pools verify all incoming shares to make sure that solutions sent by miners are correct: obviously, they can’t trust miners blindly.

The PING command in Windows or Linux measures the speed of a server response. PING in mining programs measures how fast a mining pool server gets your share, processes it and gets back to you. That’s why mining programs call it “share accepted time” instead of PING.

Choosing Pools By Latency Is Wrong

Say, a miner connects to a pool and starts sending shares. He sees that shares are accepted in 50 ms (the ping is 50 ms). Then the miner connects to another pool and sees that shares are accepted in 150 ms. He thinks that the first one is better and chooses to stay there.

The problem is, it’s completely wrong.

When you choose a mining pool, you should look at stale shares rather than ping. It doesn’t mean you shouldn’t consider other things too, such as: MEV reward and its distribution, pool fees, usability, etc.

But let’s get back to shares. 2Miners pool features detailed share stats of each miner.

Shares can be:

• Valid – shares accepted by a pool. Miners are rewarded only for these shares.
• Invalid – shares rejected by a pool because they are invalid. In most cases it’s because of excessive GPU overclocking. Reducing it would solve the problem. How To Overclock Nvidia and AMD Graphics Cards on Different Algorithms
• Stale – shares not accepted by a pool because they come late.

Thanks to uncle blocks in the Ethereum network, any stale share, even after 1000 ms or 2000 ms, can become a block solution. Sure, such a block won’t bring you a full reward of 2 ETH or more. But as an uncle block, it can bring you 1.75 ETH.

Many pools misinterpret the concept of a stale share. If a share comes a second after a pool starts sending out a new problem, it’s discarded. 2Miners uses a different approach. We handle all shares with care and try to make the most of them. A share comes late? No problem, maybe we can create an uncle block!

When you start mining in a pool, study your share stats. If you don’t have stale shares, the pool is good for you. Your ping doesn’t matter.

Again, there are other things to consider when you choose a pool, like how you get paid, fees, MEV, etc. In this case, we are talking only about network speed.

Here is an example that proves our theory.

Let’s take two identical miners, with 500 MH/s each. The first has a ping to the pool of 50 ms, the second – 500 ms.

In one hour, the first miner sends 200 shares to the pool. All the shares are valid, and no stale shares are found. The second miner sends 200 shares to the pool in one hour. All the shares are valid, and no stale shares are found.

Both of them get the same reward. The former doesn’t get more because of a lower ping, and the latter doesn’t get less because of a higher ping.

Difference between Ethereum and Other Cryptocurrencies. Uncle Blocks

Uncle block is an important difference between Ethereum, as well as other Ethash coins, and all other cryptocurrencies. Block find time in Ethereum is very short: 13 seconds on average. Most cryptocurrencies have a longer block find time. In Bitcoin, a new block is found every 10 minutes. Once someone finds a new block, he should transmit information about it to other network nodes (miners) as soon as possible.

In Ethereum network mining pools would often find new blocks at the same time and would then compete against each other.

Thanks to uncle blocks, a mining pool that finds a block a little later than other pools can be rewarded. It also happens that two pools find a new block simultaneously, but one of them is connected with a greater number of major mining pools in the network than the other. In this case, the former gets a full block reward, while the latter gets a reward for an uncle block.

Current block reward in the ETH network is a little over 2 ETH on average. Reward for an uncle block is 1.75 ETH. The difference is minimal.

Having Too Many Uncle Blocks Is Bad. Myth or Reality?

It goes without saying that any pool should strive to maintain a good connection with other network nodes to get information about new blocks as fast as possible and send information about blocks found in the pool just as fast.

2Miners makes every effort to ensure the connection of the pool to as many nodes as possible all over the world. Plus, we cooperate with other mining pools and connect our network nodes directly. As a result, we send and receive information about new blocks without delays.

When you hear something like: “This pool has many uncle blocks because of bad servers,” it doesn’t make any sense. We are confident that good mining pools out of the top ten can buy and set up quality servers.

The number of uncle blocks can grow for reasons out of the pool’s control. When the most popular pool in the Ethereum network, Sparkpool, was located in China, the connection between the Chinese pools and the European/American pools was disrupted on several occasions due to the Chinese Great Firewall. Pools were exchanging information with long delays, and there were a lot of uncle blocks in pools.

Uncle Blocks: Yes or No?

Definitely yes! The more the better. See for yourself: one pool finds 100 blocks and 5 uncle blocks, the other finds 100 blocks and 10 uncle blocks. The difference in reward is more than 3%.

So are uncle blocks good or bad?
There is no definite answer to this question.

If an uncle block is a result of a pool node poorly connected to other network nodes, it’s bad. If an uncle block is an unforeseen additional reward, it’s good.

Bonus: Are Empty 2 ETH Blocks without Transactions Bad?

In this article, we established that if a pool has a large number of uncle blocks, it’s not necessarily bad. It may even be the contrary.

Now let’s talk about another myth: “Pools that mine 2 ETH blocks are bad”.

Here’s the thing. 2 ETH blocks are empty blocks that don’t contain any transactions.

Generally, 2 ETH blocks appear right after the previous block is found. For example, you can look at the 2 ETH block 11 789 558 that after just one second follows block 11 789 557.

The Ethereum node works in such a way that after it starts working on a new block, it creates “empty” blocks during the first 200–300 ms. There is no way around it. In other words, right after a pool finds a new block or receives information about a new block from the network, it’s “bare” in the first fraction of a second. The pool doesn’t have enough time to fill the block with transactions.

Again, considering that top pools can afford to buy and set up servers properly, 2 ETH blocks is a completely normal thing. On the contrary, if a pool received information about a new block 10 seconds ago and didn’t add any transaction in the block, it wouldn’t be okay. In this case, you can say that the pool is bad. But to be honest, it almost never happens.

Is there a way for a pool to solve the node issue? Yes, there is. A pool can set some sort of a timeout or delay. Say, a pool can hide information about a new block from miners in the first 500 ms after the receipt and keep sending them the old problem. As a result, instead of an empty 2 ETH block, the pool may find an uncle block worth 1.75 ETH. But 2 ETH is definitely better than 1.75 ETH. So such a correction wouldn’t make any sense.

When Firo Will Perform Hard Fork

Firo will upgrade to v0.14.9.0. The update is mandatory. It will introduce the FiroPoW algorithm and a new feature called Instant Send.

The update is due on October 26 at 6:00 UTC.

What Is FiroPoW

FiroPoW is a new mining algorithm that will replace the current algorithm: MTP (Merkle Tree Proof). It is highly optimized for GPUs and both ASIC and FPGA resistant. Miners won’t have to worry about an abrupt decrease in mining profitability.

According to Firo’s team, they are big fans of the Proof-of-Work algorithm. Here is a quote from the official website.

We have always been big fans of Proof of Work’s ability to tie the value of a virtual currency to the real world along with a way to distribute Firo’s supply in a fair and decentralized manner free from restrictions.

FiroPoW follows ProgPoW v0.9.4 spec with a small change. It will allow the algorithm to randomly change with every block.

In 2019 ProgPoW was strongly supported by Ethereum users that voted in favor of its integration into the network. ProgPoW was going to prevent ASICs from mining ETH, thus protecting GPU owners and making the blockchain more decentralized. Ethereum still hasn’t implemented ProgPoW.

Some cryptocurrencies already use ProgPoW. Ravencoin’s current mining algorithm KawPoW is a modified version of ProgPoW.

The initial DAG size will be slightly more than 4GB and increase by 8MB every 1300 blocks, that is, every ~4.5 days. As a result, most modern graphics cards will support DAG.

DAG is a data block uploaded to the GPU memory when a miner launches. DAG makes mining possible, so that miners can look for solutions to find blocks, thus ensuring the network operation. DAG size increases with time, which prevents graphics cards from mining certain cryptocurrencies: they simply don’t have enough memory.

A block in kilobytes in FiroPoW, excluding transactions, is ~500x smaller than a block in MTP. As a result, the blockchain size will increase much more slowly, which will also benefit the network bandwidth.

What Is Firo’s Instant Send

Instant Send allows transactions to be safely considered final within seconds even without waiting for block confirmation. It is combined with ChainLocks technology which makes blocks final with a single confirmation. As a result, Firo can be used as a currency even for real-life transactions.

Once Firo reaches block 421150, Instant Send transactions will be default for all wallet transactions including Lelantus transactions. Firo will be working with cryptocurrency exchanges and other platforms to allow for fast recognition of Firo deposits.

How to Prepare for Firo’s Update

2Miners FIRO pool supports the update to the new version 0.14.9.0 and FiroPoW. The pool has already updated the nodes to the latest version. If you have a Firo wallet with the full blockchain version, don’t forget to upgrade it by following the link .

• Gminer is not planning to support Firo’s update.
• NiceHash will support it only if the daily mining profitability reaches “at least a few BTC.” Otherwise, Firo won’t be on Nicehash.

Instead, TeamRedMiner and T-Rex already confirmed that they will support the update.

T-Rex is the mining program for NVIDIA, TeamRedMiner – for AMD.

Nvidia FiroPoW Settings

Here is a bat file you could use ONLY after the fork, just in case you need it. As you see the only difference is the mining algorithm. It was mtp and now it would be firopow.

AMD FiroPoW Settings

FiroPow is supported by TeamRedMiner starting from version 0.8.6. You can download the new version here. Use the following bat file to mine Firo on TRM. As you see the only difference is the mining algorithm. It was mtp and now it would be firopow.

You can find everything about how to start mining Firo on the respective pool webpage. As of now, the page still features settings for the MTP algorithm, but we will update the page as the fork gets closer. If you are a 2Miners user, the only thing that will change for you in the bat file after the fork is the name of the algorithm: from mtp to firopow. Server, port, and other settings remain the same.

Firo’s update is an important milestone for the network that will affect the cryptocurrency functionality and its popularity among common users. Miners should remember to upgrade and change settings, otherwise, Firo mining will stop. Any questions are welcome in our Telegram chat.
